Friday, April, 28 2023 (8:00am - 12:00pm) (Ballroom 1)
WILDLAND FIRE INVESTIGATION- A WALK IN THE WOODS is a 4-hour (tested) lecture on the specialized techniques, practices, equipment, and terminology involved in investigating a Wildland Fire. While the basic principles of fire science and dynamics are the same in a wildfire, the wildland fire development and spread is influenced by very different factors such as unique fuels, weather, topography, and unconfined turbulent burning. The lecture includes a brief coverage of Wildland Fire Methodology (NFPA 921 Chapter 27) using an actual Wildland Fire Investigation as an example. This lecture is intended for anyone interested in Wildland Fires and the Specialized Investigation of Wildland Fires.
